When using a carbon filter on a chlorinated water source, it is recommended to place the filter on bypass once per year and run water through all faucets and showers for a few minutes each.

How it works: A special carbon filter media is installed at your water’s point of entry before or after any other filter or water softener. As the water goes through the media tank, the carbon media traps the contaminants and holds them until the unit back-washes. Similar to water softeners, the unit will backwash itself automatically, usually at around 2:00 am.
